QUESTION:
Don't Rely on Company Pension or Government Benefits
If you follow the news, you know that big company pensions plans are being cut left and right.
No longer can you depend on the retirement promises companies used to make to their employees. Similarly, there are no guarantees that Social Security will be around when you retire, since it is currently running a growing funding deficit.
Do yourself a favor: Create your own savings vehicles and take responsibility for affording your own retirement. If government or company money does get paid out, consider it a bonus.
