QUESTION:

I am newly retired. I want to move to an over 55 adult community

I would like to move into an over 55 adult community. I have a lease where I am now and the apt. will probably be available to me in Sept. but my lease doesn't expire until Nov. Is there any way I could still move and still receive my security deposit.

Hi Bev,

The exact details of what you are allowed to do with your lease depend on the local laws and regulations applicable to your area. We recommend that for assistance with this issue, you speak to your landlord, as well as your local rent office to determine how best to proceed.
