The inheritance will put him over the resources limit and he may lose SSI eligibility until he spends down. Does he need clothing, personal items, etc? Is his funeral fully funded? If you can't find another way to spend the money you will pay it to the nursing home. If his SSI is discontinued, once the money is spent down you will be able to get him back on SSI.
