QUESTION:
Spouse is Hard of Hearing -- Change Pitch Not Decibel Level
My husband is becoming hard of hearing and up until recently he would always ask me to talk louder. The problem was that when I talked louder, I felt like I was yelling at him -- yelling in anger not just decibel level. And, I think that sensed anger in my voice rather than just loudness. I didn't like the dynamic.
The good news that I wanted to share was that we found that changing the pitch level of my voice eliminated the need to yell. I simply lower my voice to a deeper tone and he can hear me just fine, without yelling.
I read online that you are not necessarily loosing a level of sound when you lose your hearing, you are losing different pitches.
I know a hearing aid might help our situation, but he is just not ready for that yet.
