Tax consequences of SSA retirement & work for couples

If married and one spouse retires while the other continues working - Is the retired person's Social Security taxable if the working spouse makes over a certain amount of money? If yes, what is the threshold amount?

For exact details, we strongly recommend contacting the Social Security Administration at www.ssa.gov. However in general, the IRS treats a married couple as the same unit for tax purposes, and so any wages earned are likely to disqualify one for SSA in any event.
