QUESTION:
Why I want to work in retirement
Here's why I want to work in retirement
1) Money & Security. The longer I earn - the less time I have to live off my savings.
2) Doing something constructive and hopefully meaningful and useful for the world.
3) Medical coverage / health insurance. Ideally I'll have a job that will provide coverage - at least until Medicare kicks in.
4) Staying engaged mentally. The idea of playing golf and watching some TV sounds great for a while, but the idea of spending all my time with people who are doing the same thing all day doesn't sound that satisfying.
5) More friends & community. I've always enjoyed the people I've worked with and hope to continue that when I reach full retirement age.
6) Social security benefits. Social Security benefits are based on your top 35 earning years, so you might be able to build bigger monthly checks by working longer. Also, changes in the law mean you can be 65 or older and can still claim full benefits even if you continue to work full-time.
