QUESTION:

can my spouse claim spousal benefits while continuing to work

I am turning 65 this year. I intend to claim. Can my spouse (age 63) claim spousal benefits while continuing to work, then claim her own benefits at age 65?

Hello Dutch,

Unfortunately, in order for your spouse to claim spousal benefits from your social security, she has to have reached the so-called "Full Retirement Age", which assuming she turns 63 this year, would be 66. As such, while she can claim her own benefits at age 65, she cannot claim yours before that point.
