It depends on how old you are:If you remarry BEFORE the age of 60 you generally can't receive survivors benefits from your first marriage - unless your second marriage ends, whether by death, divorce, or annulment. If you remarry AFTER age 60 or 50 if disabled, you CAN collect benefits on your former spouse’s record. You will also have a choice after age 62 - you can choose to keep your former spouses benefit or you may get retirement benefits based on the record of your new spouse if they are higher.
