As you know, Climate Change is happening -- and it is happening fast - faster than we thought - faster than we seem to be able to admit or to adjust to. Climate Change is threatening our very existence on this Earth.

I would like to invite Readers to contribute their thoughts on this subject and describe the Actions that they have taken or are taking to fight back, to regain a viable future for ourselves and our children and grandchildren.

The latest tipping point for me was an AP article that appeared in the Washington Post:

Then there is the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report that is being issued:

I recommend the first website for your attention if you have not had the chance to read it. It is sobering.

The second website is detailed and, to me, somewhat intimidating in its vast scope and the huge amount of supporting scientific evidence of the adverse effects upon us of Climate Change -- specifically, Global Warming.

From a global economic perspective, since most of the earth's population and commerce is along the ocean's shore, the impact of Global Warming and the concurrent effects of sea level rising and the increased ferocity of storms will be catastrophic.

The insurance industry as we know it will cease to exist. If property insurance becomes unavailable or prohibitively expensive, then property values will plummet. And the rebuilding of coastal cities will become impossible. Indeed, the very slow "progress" of the rebuilding of the City of New Orleans can be viewed as a cautionary tale of what we can expect in the near future in coastal cities around the globe.

Denial or despair seem to be the current responses of too many of us who live near the coast. That can only get worse for the foreseeable future.

But we should begin by informing ourselves in detail about our dilemma. Therefore, I again recommend the Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change website for your information.

We are part of the problem. Indeed, we ARE the problem in too many ways. We need to signup to be part of the Solution. I believe that it is humankind's greatest challenge. But I also believe that it can be successfully met.
